Roast control to Major Tom: Long & Short coffees are now live!

New Long & Short coffee packaging complete with roast date

Yes, the website has been up for a little while now but the Long and Short coffee shop, and three wonderful coffees are now available for you all to spend your hard earned spondolicks (‘money’, in new language).

We’ve spent the best part of one year in R&D carefully learning to work with our roaster — as with many roasters, there are quirks aplenty — but it’s been worth it as the coffee has improved leaps and bounds, and is ready to take on the best of them.

The three we’ve decided to work with for launch are coffees we have worked with in the past, which provide a solid foundation offering, in addition to representing the three primary coffee regions of South America, Central America and Africa:

  1. Risaralda, Colombia – a classic South American flavour profile, but sharper with a slight tanginess, but not overwhelming for those that aren’t too fond of acidic notes.  Super large 19+ screened beans, representing the highest quality in the region.
  2. Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia – again, another classic but this time from halfway back across the globe to Africa and with a very different profile, bursting with florals and fruity notes.  All the good stuff that comes with the Ethiopian Heirloom varietal, with a lighter and more tea-like body and mouthfeel.  If you can’t afford Geisha, grab a bag of this – you won’t be disappointed.
  3. Esmeralda, Panama – this one is a more balanced choice, like most that come from Central America.  It finds a place between the other two coffees containing both stone-fruit and choc-nut notes, so it could easily be considered a replacement for any blended coffee and is probably the most versatile of the three.  From the most prestigious farm in the coffee world, Hacienda la Esmeralda.
